Bali All of Bali has so much to offer. From surfing, nightlife, volcanoes, waterfalls and much more, Bali has something for everyone. Although there is surf spread out along the bottom Bukit, the prime surf spots are located around Uluwatu and some parts of Canggu. Depending on what you are looking for I would recommend staying in either Canggu or Uluwatu for surf, and especially for more of a nightlife scene, go to Canggu. If you are looking for a more chill, surf vibe, head straight to Uluwatu. You will NOT want to leave

In Uluwatu there is more than a dozen waves within a 30 minute scooter ride. From the multiple peaks at Uluwatu, to Impossibles, Padang Padang, Balangan and many more, there is a break that fits your level of surfing all the way from very new beginner to professional. Most of the surf spots will be a point break over a stunning reef, which can lead to cuts and scrapes so I do recommend bringing surf booties or buying some upon arrival.
Canggu on the other hand is primarily a beach break. From Batu Balong to the peak at Old Man’s, it is a super crowded wave but you can score with good offshore winds early in the morning. There are a lot of board rentals and lessons for beginners and peaks out the back for experienced surfers. One of the only right handed waves in Bali, Keramas, is also a reasonable driving distance away as well as Kuta reef and Kuta beach in general.
The Nightlife
Uluwatu’s nightlife is a bit more consolidated than Canggu. Everyone is at the same clubs on the same days for the most part. The Cashew Tree on Thursday’s for live music and loads of fun, Ulu Cliff House, Savaya, or the Omnia for Friday and Saturday and EVERYONE is at Single Fin for Sunday. The vibe is a lot more chill with a lot of surfers here rather than people coming strictly for the partying and sight seeing.
Canggu is the nightlife capital of Bali. From world famous Fin’s Beach Club to so many other on the sand beach clubs there is so much to choose from. They are all pretty packed most nights since most of the visitors in Canggu are more partiers than surfers. Basically, throw a dart at a map of Canggu and go to the bar/club it lands on and you will have heaps of fun.
